Upcoming Show!

I've been hard at work on a small set of paintings for a show at WWA Gallery on May 7th. I'll be showing in the project room while the very talented Rey Ortega and Rob Corless are showing in the main room.

And just to whet your appetite, here are teases of a couple of my pieces in the show:

I'm really happy with the work I made for the show so I hope you can make it to see them in person! I'll post the full images and the other paintings as the show draws nearer. Woohoo!

Hollywoodland

Sorry for the lack of posts recently, but I promise that some new stuff is coming!

Speaking of which, I've got another illustration for my "LA-LA Land" column in this week's LA Weekly (I think it's out now).

The first idea is about Star Maps, the maps you can get in Hollywood that tell you where celebrities live, except, you know...he's an astronaut so it's a map of literal stars. Puns!
The second idea was to do a mosaic-type thing of various Los Angeles people and elements.

Jason wanted me to push the Hollywood/LA vibe, so I added a space traffic jam (space jam?) of sorts, some satellites with advertisements on them, and a planet Hollywood (har har). Will the puns never end? Jason also wanted me to make it a little trippy/psychedelic, so I went with some kinda crazy colors:
